Dr Roch Cantwell

Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist

Dr Roch Cantwell is a recently retired consultant perinatal psychiatrist.

 

He is professional advisor in perinatal mental health to the Scottish Government. He is also a trustee of Aberlour Children’s Charity. He was the founding lead clinician for Scotland’s National Perinatal Managed Clinical Network and vice-chair of the Scottish Government’s Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Programme Board, tasked with establishing specialist services across Scotland. Other past roles have included lead psychiatric assessor and chapter author for the Confidential Enquiries into Maternal Deaths from 2011 to 2021, chair of the College’s UK and Scotland Perinatal Faculties, and of its Perinatal Quality Network Advisory Committee, and chair of the SIGN guideline development group on perinatal mood disorders.

 

He led the development of Scotland’s first Mother and Baby Unit and community perinatal mental health team.
